PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has urged people to read Cambodian history books to learn more about the country's historical struggles with war and national reconciliation.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for students of the National Technical Training Institute in Phnom Penh on Monday morning, 27 February 2023, the Prime Minister said, "Please diligently refer to the books to know our history."

Cambodia went through a prolonged stage of national disintegration from about 1500 until 1998. During this time, Cambodia was divided into several territories and experienced a series of uprisings. This national division was only reconciled in 1998 under Prime Minister Hun Sen's win-win policy; Cambodia become a fully independent state with territorial unity under a single monarchy and government after more than 500 years of division.
